John CULLYHORN/CALLAGHAN

He was tried at Exeter, Devon on 22 July 1782 for burglary with a value of 55 shillings. He was sentenced to transportation for 7 years and left England on the Scarborough aged about 31 at that time (May 1787). His occupation was listed as seaman. He died in 1807(?).

Notes: Partner in the original crime was John Carney.Required medication while awaiting transfer to a hulk.Found guilty of insulting Major Robert Ross, and received 600 lashes, and six months work in irons, even though his term had expired.Married Elizabeth Leonard on 19 February 1788.
