James DAVIS

He was tried at Old Bailey, London on 8 December 1784 for stealing clothing with a value of 46 shillings. He was sentenced to transportation for 7 years and left England on the Scarborough aged about 27 at that time (May 1787). He had no occupation recorded.

Notes: Received 24 lashes for “contempuously” throwing away fish. Married Martha Burkitt on 13 February 1788.
