Samuel BIRD

He was tried at Croydon, Surrey on 20 July 1785 for stealing bags of saltpetre with a value of 65 shillings. He was sentenced to transportation for 7 years and left England on the Alexander aged about 23 at that time (May 1787). He had no occupation recorded.He left NSW in March 1791. He died in 1792.

Notes: Partner in the original crime was James Bird. Described as of stout build, five feet seven inches tall, with dark complexion and dark hair.Escaped with the Bryants, and died after recapture.
