William JONES

He was tried at Shrewsbury, Shropshire on 12 March 1785 for stealing a purse and cash with a value of 96 shillings. He was sentenced to transportation for 7 years and left England on the Friendship aged about 21 at that time (May 1787). His occupation was listed as stocking weaver.

Notes: Report from Dunkirk hulk was “tolerably decent and orderly”.On 21 August 1788 sentenced to receive 50 lashes for gambling.
