Described as “the noted swindler” by court records.Employed in issuing spirits, on 6 May 1788 he was sentenced to receive 200 lashes after a court of enquiry into a marine having been drunk on duty, and on 12 April 1790 to 100 lashes for stealing a pumpkin.Married Mary McCormack on 10 February 1788, the first marriage recorded in the colony.
