William SHERMAN/SHEARMAN

He was tried at Reading, Berkshire on 7 October 1785 for stealing livestock (turkeys) of unknown value. He was sentenced to transportation for 7 years and left England on the Alexander aged about 25 at that time (May 1787). He had no occupation recorded.

Notes: On 29 February 1788 ordered to receive 300 lashes for theft, but punishment was forgiven.
